Later this year will be the centenary of the First World War. We will remember this by learning about scouting during the war and supporting the Scouting Memorial Project.
Currently there is no memorial for anyone past and present who has given service to scouting.
In 2010 a Scout Group from Birmingham visited the National Memorial Arboretum. They found that there were many memorials for other youth organisations but not one for Scouting. After a number of years in January 2013 the Scouting Memorial Project began.
Through donations the project is trying to raise £80,000. This will be used to design and building of the memorial and ensure there will be maintenance and insurance for 20 years. Click here if you would like to find out more. Take a look at the stories, there’s even one from our own leader.
